Business Accelerator “Spark” launched into operation with the EU financial support in Tbilisi, Georgia

Tbilisi - January 31,2018 – The Mayor of Tbilisi held an opening ceremony of Business Accelerator "Spark" in Kikvidze Park. The new facility was created by Tbilisi City Hall in partnership with the Georgian Employers' Association and within the framework of the EU Initiative ‘Mayors for Economic Growth’ (M4EG). Half a million Euro from the project budget is being financed by the EU, while Tbilisi City Hall is also contributing an undisclosed sum. Business Accelerator "Spark" is one of the 16 Pioneer projects implemented by M4EG signatories in Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine.  

The purpose of the project is to promote employment, enhance the capacity of Georgian entrepreneurs and SMEs, as well as facilitate implementation of innovative business ideas. From now on, the new work space and the services offered there will be available to anyone wishing to work on their business idea.  

"The project is a part of an international initiative, titled Mayors for Economic Growth. The goal is to encourage talented young people and we are ready to share our experience", stated Karl Hartzell, the Ambassador of EU in Georgia at the opening event.

About "Spark":

Spark business hub is offering start-ups an operation environment and assistance in business plan preparation, consisting of consultations of experts in finance, marketing, business analysis, and business planning. One of the objectives of Spark is to bring together prospective entrepreneurs and business investors to help start-ups or new entrepreneurs to secure needed financial resources.

Within this project priority will be given to young entrepreneurs working in the following fields: 

  • Tourism and related business; 
  • Professional and higher education; 
  • Medical business;
  • Business related with sport and health;
  • Traditional crafting; (handmade objects);
  • IT technologies; 
  • Innovative business ideas in different fields;
  • Energy efficient technologies and innovations.
